Maggie’s centre* is known for its selfless supporting community and architectural design. Zaha Hadid, Kisho Kurokawa and many other world-class architects has designed their buildings while following ‘Maggie’s Architecture and Landspace Brief’. As Maggie's Tokyo is sited in the location which is limited till 2020, we were given the chance to take part in this experience. With their humble budget and architectural guidelines, we came up with the idea of recycling. Combination of prefabrication method and wooden coverage resulted in comfortable and safe open space for everyone.
*Maggie’s provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends, following ideas about cancer care originally laid out by Maggie Keswick Jencks. Maggie’s first centre opened in Edinburgh, UK in 1996 and continued to grow in the UK and abroad.
